What is eCash (XEC)?
eCash (XEC), earlier known as Bitcoin Cash ABC (BCHA), is a fork of Bitcoin Cash (BCH). It was rebranded from Bitcoin Cash ABC (BCHA) to eCash (XEC) on July 1, 2021, to remove inconvenient decimal places from its unit. All BCHA got converted to XEC at a ratio of 1 million to 1 (1 BCHA = 1,000,000 XEC). As its new name suggests, eCash plans to become a cryptocurrency that can be used as electronic cash for peer-to-peer payment of everyday goods and services. The total supply of XEC tokens is 21 trillion, 90% of which is already mined. Like Bitcoin, it also undergoes periodic halving after every 2,10,000 blocks. The next halving of XEC will occur in March 2024.
eCash uses an innovative variation of Proof-of-Stake consensus called Avalanche (not related to Avalanche blockchain) that enables instant peer-to-peer transactions, enhanced security, and fork-free upgrades.
The XEC token is a crucial part of the Avalanche staking algorithm of eCash. Its holders can stake it to get incentives and participate in network governance. The base unit of XEC currency is called “bits”.
As a platform, eCash also supports the affordable creation of new tokens by individuals with the name, total supply, decimal places, and icon of their choice. It takes much less than $0.01 to create customized tradable tokens on eCash.
