What is Skale (SKL)?
SKL is the Ethereum-based ERC-777 utility token of Skale Network, a Layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum. Skale operates on a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism in the unique architecture to bring enormous project scalability without compromising security or decentralization. Skale network promotes itself as the only blockchain network that can run unlimited dApp-specific elastic side chains with zero gas fees.
The Skale network maintains a decentralized nature through a pool validation model where validator nodes stake SKL tokens to pools. The token delegation to participate in the staking process of Skale is noncustodial. Therefore, they can stake their SKL tokens through a delegation key without locking them in smart contracts.
As an ERC-777 token, SKL is backwards compatible with ERC20 standards and acceptable on all Ethereum apps that accept ERC20 tokens. SKL allows Skale users to pay for sidechain subscriptions, access the dApps developed on the network, complete transactions, participate in consensus and contribute to the on-chain voting. SKL has a total supply of 7 billion.
