About The Graph (GRT)
GRT is the native cryptocurrency of The Graph, a decentralized indexing protocol that helps developers get relevant data from various blockchains to use in increasing the efficiency of their dApps. The Graph’s nodes continuously scan various network blocks and smart contracts for information. They then store all the collected information in different subgraphs, which is the name of open APIs. When The Graph protocol receives any information query about the blockchains, it immediately responds to them from the subgraphs.
The Graph users who assist the network in processing the data and passing it to end users are called curators, indexers, and delegators. Anyone who queries The Graph to find any blockchain data is called a consumer. These customers must pay a fee to The Graph in GRT tokens to get the information. The Volunteers associated with the Graph network (delegators, curators, and indexers) also need to stake some GRT tokens for performing their roles and get network fees as a reward. This way, GRT acts as an integral part of The Graph platform.
The Graph operates on the Ethereum blockchain and has helped various Ethereum-based dApps like AAVE, Decentraland, Uniswap, etc.
